I anticipate great things this weekend as we declare God’s power and reaffirm our faith in the resurrection of Jesus. The power of Christ never changes. This resurrection power works in your life even right now as you read this.
This Sunday we’re nearing the end of the book of Acts and we see Paul having a philosophical and spiritual showdown in Athens, Greece. The center of the philosophical universe lay in Athens. Paul talks to them plainly and clearly about the resurrection. This entry into the Grecian world of the gospel still echoes within the church today. I want to thank so many of you for all the encouragement you’ve given me during this series. God’s word and activity are powerful so it’s made life easy for me highlighting God’s activity in His ever growing kingdom.
I want to challenge you to invite friends and family this weekend so they can connect with Jesus. We’re sending out an e-mail invitation that I would encourage you to send to friends. Personalize it with a quick note that personally invites them to church.
Just some tips:
1. Don’t forward it. Overall – people don’t read forwards.
2. Send with it a personal note to your friend(s)/family.
3. You might communicate why Easter means so much to you personally.
4. After you’ve sent it, pray for the person/people that you send it to.
There’s a lot of stuff going on over the weekend – connecting with Jesus is the goal you want to put in front of yourself and your family, and here’s the overview:
Good Friday – 6:30 p.m. – A night focusing on the power of the cross
Saturday – 10-11:30 a.m. – A family event designed for families with preschool and elementary aged children
Resurrection Sunday – 8:15, 9:30, 11 a.m. – A complete focus on the resurrection.
As always, you can get more information at www.forumblvd.org
I want to welcome Shane & Kristen Battenfield to Forum. They’re a great couple and a wonderful family. So glad you are making Forum your church home.
Also, we’ve got an addition to our staff families: namely Lillie Spellman was born yestereday morning to our preschool director Jessie Spellman and grand-daughter of our office administrator Carolyn Howell. We’re thrilled for you.
Just wanted to make you aware that in the next couple of weeks we will be having sign-ups for having family pictures taken. We are going to publish our own church directory and we need your family’s picture to make it complete. More information will be coming as to times and locations.
This weekend should be great – I can’t wait to explore and encounter our great God with you. See you then, Scott
PS -I want to take a moment to thank the crews that painted and worked so hard to continue to make our facility look great. Tim Crockett, Jeremy McBee, Steve Cowan, and Jared Wortman are some that went way over the top in time given. Then there was donation of materials and specialized services as well as around 30 plus that painted on the Saturday. Thank you all for making Forum a beautiful place!
