e-news for week of 10/26 - 11/1

Thanks for all the great response to the I.C. series. I hope that by the time this series is completed, all of us will have our eyes opened. I hope we will see more ways to intentionally connect people to Jesus and impact Columbia. This week we will focus in on “I.C. the city.” The book of Jonah will be our primary text.

I also want to thank so very many of you for the questions and support connected to the multi-site launch. We’ll talk a lot about that on November 9, but I just want you to know that God continues to inspire and move us in that direction.

Friday night we’ll have our “Rocktober Fest” from 6 to 8 p.m. Also, if you’re willing to help out that night in some way, please email Katelyn at Katelyn@forumchristian.org. Just in passing, although as a church you are just getting to know her – she’s doing a great job and I’m so glad God led her here.

If you have a facebook account, I would encourage you to become part of the Forum Christian group. I’ve been using that group a little here lately and think it is a great additional way to interact and connect.

I do want to encourage you to keep Justin Keith, our high school minister, and his family in prayer as his grandmother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. He's going to miss her so much so let me encourage you to pray with him and lift him up.

Upcoming events:

This Sunday, November 2, is the affirmation vote for elders and deacons.
The Girlfriends “Roundup” is Thursday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Our “One” Day gathering will be on November 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbia Performing Art Centre, which is located at 100 N. Cedar Lake Drive East. You will get a map this Sunday.

Sunday, November 16, is our day of commitment and offering. This has been said but we’ll say it again. Let me be clear to the point of tedium: 1. Do only that which God lays on your heart. 2. If the additional money would affect your regular giving, don’t “rob Peter to pay Paul.” Just be faithful in your regular giving. 3. Let me encourage you to give as much of your commitment before January of 2009. That will help with the front-end costs of the second campus. 4. If you sense God wanting you to be one of the workers for the new campus, sign and turn in that card on that day.

By way of reminder – this Sunday is time change week – so fall back! Can’t wait to worship with you this week – you are going to be inspired – no lie. See you Sunday - Scott
