e-news for week of 2/10/08 - 2/16/08

God continues to do some great things at Forum. As a staff, we continue to marvel at the way God is raising Forum up to impact Columbia. We’ve had people coming forward saying they want to help in new ways as the Lord leads us toward a multisite ministry. It’s also been excellent as we’ve had record attendances and levels of involvement within this ministry. Here’s what I believe – I believe God is going to enable us to truly impact Columbia. The leadership is praying about what God would have us to do next – there’s a vibrant excitement in the body – there is seismic life change going on and it’s just a great joy to be a part of this body right now.

I do need to raise some concern – even though we are having large attendances – we’ve really tightened our belt fiscally speaking based on the money that has been coming in. I would encourage you to give to this ministry in that I believe God’s blessing is on this ministry. It’s the whole – joining God where He is working. Giving has been real good in February, but we are still recouping from December and January – yes weather plays a part in that and you don’t have to be the chairman of the Fed to know that the economy in the U.S. is challenging to every family right now. Even with all those realities in play – I would still encourage you to give cheerfully, proportionally, and in faith.

I’m also glad that we are going to make some improvements within the facility. There’s going to be a painting project to paint the auditorium and some of the areas of the facility on March 8 – let me encourage you to hold that date.

On top of that – we’re going to be forming a small action group to research facility options for our second campus. Please be praying as we continue to step forward in faith with God’s lead. God continues to place opportunities in front of us – pray for great insight and discernment as we strive to do what God deems as best.

We want to welcome these people to the church family: Jeremy and Quanna Hafer and Jacob Abbott.

This Sunday we continue in the Seismic Church series as we’re in Acts 12 if you want to read ahead. We’re looking at wavelengths. When an earthquake begins, there are seismic ripples out from the epicenter that are like waves. And like a surfer striving to time it right, we want to hop on board God’s wave in God’s timing. How do you do that on a personal level and we do that as a church? Be there Sunday and we’ll zero in. I can’t wait – see you then. Scott
