I had an engaging conversation with one of our church members this week in that the whole, “What are you doing?” from Sunday was kind of haunting/bugging him. Couldn’t get it off of his mind. Really sticking with him. All I can say is, “Good – let’s get going. Let’s tell people about Jesus. Let’s live lives that are to His glory. Let’s make our time here count.”

This Sunday we’ll continue in the “Gone Fishing” series talking about fish stories. Do you have a fish story you’d like to share? I’d love to hear it. In fact, I already heard one this last Sunday about several of our church members who were fishing in Canada kind of moaning about the slow performance of their boat when they realized they had drug the anchor all the way across the lake, anybody want to fess up to that?

One time, when I was fishing I was using a tremble hook with some liver bait on it bottom fishing for catfish – thought the line was hung on the bottom – kept slowly pulling and pulling and pulling and the line kept slowly drawing in. Ended up there was a huge snapping turtle on the end of the line. The turtle filled a 5-gallon bucket. Turtle soup was on the docket.

One time, when we were fishing…

I love fishing stories. Can’t wait to get into this Sunday.

Here are some upcoming events:

Oct. 5 & 12 – The Salvation Army food pantry is running dangerously low. On These two Sundays we will provide receptacles in the foyer if you would like to help out with donations of canned goods or any non-perishable food items.

Oct. 5 – Annual church picnic at Twin Lakes. We will meet at 4:00 p.m. and dinner will be served around 5:00. Each family is asked to bring a couple of dishes to share. Meat, drinks, and table service will be provided.

Oct. 7 – Our next “Pizza with the Pastors” will meet on Tuesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. in room 104/106. This is a great time for those new to Forum to meet with some of our staff and learn more about our overall teaching.

Nov. 9 – “One” day will be a morning in which all three services will meet at the same time. We are one church, yet due to our desire to utilize our space with great fiscal stewardship – we have three services. November 9 at 10:30 a.m. we will meet as one at the Columbia Performing Arts Center. What an exciting opportunity to see how big our Forum family really is.

Nov. 16 – We will have a day for over and above giving and one-year commitment for multi-site. You’ll get a mailer next week with information about that. Please continue to pray for those in Columbia who don’t know Jesus. Invite, pray for, and live a life that glorifies God.

See you this Sunday -- Scott
