We start a new sermon series this week called, “I.C.”
Ask yourself, “What do I see?”
When you look at yourself, what do you see?
When you think about the future, what do you see?
When you think about people you encounter, what do you see?
We’re going to be taking some vision tests over the next couple of weeks trying to get perspective on this question, “Do I see what God sees?”
As a ministry we are all about Intentionally Connecting people to Jesus. People see it. As a ministry, we want to Impact Columbia – I’m beginning to see it and hope you are to. This series is designed to help us all grow in vision/faith.
Part of this series will be the “One” Day gathering on November 9 at the Columbia Performing Art Centre at 10:30 a.m. This will be the first time since 1974 that Forum has met in a single service. This will give all a chance to see Forum as a whole – not in 3 segments. It’s going to be great all of us raising our voices singing – all of us hearing the exact same sermon (I try hard – but it does vary), and all of us remembering Christ in communion together. Every Sunday is powerful – but I think this one will be highly memorable.
I want to take a moment to thank our deacons for the exceptional service they do at Forum. Recently they led a Saturday morning workday and redid a bunch of the landscaping. It looks awesome. Let me encourage you to say, “Thanks” for these men who serve so diligently.
Let me also encourage you to keep Brice and Amanda Wurdeman in prayers as they serve God in Haiti. They have huge problems still from the hurricane. Take a moment and lift them up in prayer.
Here’s some of the upcoming events:
Preschool and Elementary Choir practice will begin this Sunday, October 19 at 5:30. Bridge band will also begin practice.
There is a Fall Foliage trip planned for October 23. They will be leaving from the church at 9 a.m. Call Bill and Carol Paten if you would like to go.
Katelyn and Jessie are planning a great “Rocktober Fest” for the 5th graders and younger and their families. It will be on Friday, October 31st and will be from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be fun, food, games, and a little mystery! If you would like to help out by donating individually wrapped candies for this event just drop them off at the Information Center or in the office.
Ladies, don’t miss out on the Girlfriends Round Up! It will be November 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.
Look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. -- Scott
