Thanks for the response so far to the new series, “Real life…” As you look in the mirror each morning, I would encourage you to take a moment of silence right then to reflect on the day ahead of you and how you will live it for Jesus. We continue this week finishing out the first chapter of James focusing on having faith that leaps into action.
Toward that end, as a ministry we are striving to intentionally do more within the community of Columbia, striving to live for God’s glory. On June 7 in conjunction with the sermon that day that will look at the scripture in James 2 that says: Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? The Salvation Army will be here that day for a soap, soup, and clothes drive at both campuses. As we get closer to the day we’ll get you more details.
We are at some of those pivot points as a ministry with our youth about to go through promotion time the first Sunday in June as well. Our elementary through high school children move up into the grade they are going into next year. Each year, when this happens many parents will “promote” with their children in terms of teaching, serving, and helping leaving us with opportunities for new parents to step up into these roles. If you are interested in serving, please contact Katelyn Morris or Jessie Spellman to help serve.
I would encourage you to check out the Forum Connection that came online yesterday for some of the summer options available for you. Check it out on the website, ForumChristian.org, under resources.
I’m looking forward to a great summer. Here are some of the ministry options that are coming up:
Camp Wallaballa - Our K - 5th grade choir has been hard at work on this musical presentation. Join us Sunday, May 31 at 6 p.m. at south campus auditorium for their premier performance.
Worship Is... - Vacation Bible School will be held, June 9 - 12, from 6:15 - 8 p.m. at the south campus. This year, VBS is taking on a new “look.” It is geared for the whole family. We will learn different ways of worshiping our Lord and have a great time doing it. The four days will end with a special concert presented by “Seeds Family Worship.” Katelyn and Jessie would love to have your help with this exciting event.
Summer Bible Study - Women’s Bible Study will be June 17 - July 29 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in room 104/106. Childcare will be provided. The series, by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and Beth Moore is: Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed. It is a study on David.
See you Sunday — Scott
