e-news for week of 6/21/09

Revival.

This simple word conjures up many images for people. For some, the image draws to mind a big tent - a lot of heat - with lots of sweat and hellfire. For others it may cause you to think of “fill a pew night.” Still some may think of a specific evangelist.

But true revivals were not events - they were much deeper than that. True revivals happen when people humble themselves before the Lord. A stirring occurs in hearts - conviction takes place - and lives are fully yielded to God.

This weekend has the potential to be a mini-revival for you if you allow the word of the Lord to sink in and penetrate your heart. I hope a stirring occurs in your heart and the word of God will compel you to a new level in your walk with Christ.

I want to continue to praise our youth ministry team this summer. From what I can tell, our children and youth are having a great summer so far. Let me encourage you to lift up our staff, especially the youth and children’s ministers, in prayer.

Saturday, June 27 - Habitat for Humanity work day. We will be carpooling from the church. Meet at 7:45 a.m. and we will leave at 8:00 a.m. If you want to drive directly to the job site, the address is 2703 McClure Rd. You do not need to bring tools, they will be provided.

See you Sunday. — Scott
