e-news for week of 8/9/09

Multiple Choice

This Sunday, I’ll:
Ο a. blow off church
Ο b. run into church 10 minutes late, scoot out fast, not encounter or interact with anyone, and go home unchanged/unaffected
Ο c. purpose to become a better decision maker by being at a worship service, come with my heart and head ready to worship and encounter God, and strive to be a vibrant part of this thriving church
Ο d. rotate the golf and fishing channels all day long

This week, in my decision making I’ve asked:

Ο a. Is it written? (What does God’s word say about it?)
Ο b. Is it borne out of love? (Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself)
Ο c. a, b, and d
Ο d. Is it on God’s agenda? (Thy will not mine be done)

As you communicate the life change and even some of the ways you have changed/are changing your decision processes I can tell that God’s word is impacting Forum deeply. Let me encourage you in that every one of us can grow to the image of Jesus. I know some of you think, “No way – I way too bad – It will never happen.” It can and this series is designed to help all of us move into making decisions that are inspired by God.

We’ve got some really fun things on the horizon starting with a “first.”

On August 30 we’d like to try an all church tail gate party out in the parking lot and the grounds immediately following third service. Let’s make this a “casual day” and dress like you would for a picnic (because there is a tailgate party afterwards). If you’d want to bring anything – bring a side dish – but we’ll provide hotdogs and brats, tea and lemonade. We have no idea if this will work – but we’ll have fun trying. It would be a great Sunday to invite a friend in that the message that day is “What kind of a church is this?”

Don’t forget, this Saturday is also a Habitat day. Hope to see you there.

Looking forward to a great day this Sunday. You all are the best. See you then, Scott
