e-news for 11/1/09

We exist to intentionally connect people to Jesus.

The challenge before all of us is to be intentional with our lives in Christ Jesus. God has you on His mission where you are. Use the time the Lord gives you to His glory. Use the gifts the Lord gave you to His glory. Love one another. Serve one another. Spur one another on in good deeds.

We’ve been in this short series called, “The Sweet Spot” for the past couple of weeks and we finish it this Sunday. The goal for every one of us is to connect with God and dial into “the zone.” It’s great when that begins to happen in your life.

Recently God started raising up one of the people within our ministry to possibly lead a “Celebrate Recovery” ministry that we hope to kick off in January. Watch the bulletin and this article for details. But the big picture is – here is a man who God is raising up and honing. I know that is happening in that some have stepped up to work in various areas of the ministry for the first time. I know this is ongoing because many of you have faithfully served for years. Serve one another.

Simple childlike faith coupled with simple obedience puts you into the sweet spot of God’s will and design.

Over the next couple of weeks, let me encourage you to lift up Paxton Spencer in prayer. Paxton will undergo another surgery on November 16 at Cardinal Glennon in St. Louis. Freddy and Jessica along with their daughter Emma definitely need us to exert all the “one another” elements of the New Testament during this critical time period.

Remember that next week, November 15, the Forum eldership will be commissioning Caleb and Jackie Sellers to the mission field. The Sellers are in their final language training phase and will soon be in West Africa, as Bible translators for Bible-less people of that area. There will also be a luncheon for the Sellers after third service that Sunday. Please bring a covered dish and join us.

Also on Sunday, November 15, you will have the opportunity to affirm the men who have answered the call to serve God and Forum for the year 2010 as elders and deacons. These men have been screened by our current elders and they are presenting them to you for your affirmation. Please pray for these men and for God’s guidance as you consider them.

Looking forward to Sunday worship. – Scott
