William Strauss and Neil Howe wrote a series of demographical studies that chart cyclical patterns within America tracing back patterns of cultural morays all the way back to before our nation was formed. Generations, The Fourth Turning, Millennials Rising would all be part of their repartee. Strauss and Howe would advance the theory of patterns of cyclical behaviors. Frankly, these types of patterns predate life on this continent and can be seen in God’s word very clearly. This Sunday we start into a sermon series called, “First Chair Faith.” From a conceptual (different texts/sermons) standpoint, we did this series a little over two years ago. As a ministry, we need a refresher course. This will be the one of the series that will be repeated (conceptually) every couple of years because of the impact it has on people. This is a great series to invite friends to experience.
As a ministry, it’s thrilling to be a part of the sending and commissioning of Caleb and Jackie Sellers this Sunday. Just a reminder – bring a couple of side dishes for a church fellowship dinner immediately after third service.
This Sunday is also the time of affirmation for elders and deacons. Please take the time to affirm them. The voting stations will be in the lobbies at both campuses.
Let me encourage the entire church body to be praying for Freddy, Jessica, Emma, and Paxton Spencer this entire weekend. Paxton goes for a big surgery on Monday at Cardinal Glennon in St. Louis.
Let me encourage you to mark these dates over the next month so that you can plan accordingly. The Christmas season can really jam up quickly so here are some dates you’ll want to save:
Christmas production – You won’t want to miss this year’s Christmas program at South Campus. So, it will be offered twice, first on Saturday, December 19 and again on Sunday, December 20. More details will follow soon.
Christmas Eve service – Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. at South Campus
It’s a great season of ministry at Forum. Looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. – Scott
