E-news for week of 4/26/09

Forum strives to connect people to Jesus. This past year we ramped up to start a second campus and I'm pleased to say we are reaching people. The reason we do this is that God wants everyone in heaven with Him. That is His desire. He sent His only son to do this for us.

Several years ago there was a song that kind of captured the nation called, "I can only imagine." While the song may have lost a little of its luster - the message of the song hasn't. It is one of hope and encouragement. We continue this Sunday in the Mythbusters series talking about, "Is there a heaven and a hell?" Friends, when thinking about heaven I glimpse your faces, and the faces of family and friends who have gone on to be with the Lord ahead of us, all with arms raised and faces illuminated by the radiating glory of God crying out, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was, and is, and is to come." I know we will be in God's presence around His throne glowing in His light.

On the note of talking of God's promise and hope, a dear sister in Christ, Linda Fletcher went to be with the Lord this past Monday. Let me encourage you to pray for her husband Bob and her children Russ, Ted, and Nancy as well as the grandchildren and rest of her family. My friends, Linda was and is a saint who loves God. Her passing from life into life leaves a huge hole on this earth. We will miss her dearly but look forward to the blessed day of hope when we all see Jesus. What a day of rejoicing that will be! Just in case you didn't see the notice about her funeral - visitation is tonight from 5 - 8 and the funeral is Saturday at 11:00 a.m here at Forum.

There's a lot of ministry going on and emerging on the horizon:

Our elementary children are doing a musical production called, "Camp Wallaballa" on May 31 at 6:00 p.m. Get it onto your calendar and come support these young people as they serve the Lord with their talents.

We'll need Vacation Bible School workers for the week of June 9 - 12. This year's VBS looks stellar. The theme is "Worship is" and will help families learn to grow followers of God. Frankly, this is a breakthrough type of approach that we are trying and I'm so proud of Katelyn Morris and Jessie Spellman for putting this together. Rod Peterson caught me the other day and asked, "Have you heard the Seeds family worship music?" "I haven't." "We LOVE it. It is so good. I hope EVERYBODY comes to this VBS - I think it's going to be incredible...."

Everyone in the church family should have gotten the summer Forum Connection that emphasized the children's and youth areas. Even if you don't have children, please put the calendar on your fridge and pray for our young people throughout the summer. - Scott
