e-news for week of 6/28/09

The Temptations sang, “It was just my imagination….running away with me…”

Paul wrote, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3: 20, 21)

When the founders of our nation came here seeking religious liberty and freedom – do you think they imagined this great nation? A nation – where at the heart of the architecture – the concept of the freedom God intended for us drove the founders. I recognize and acknowledge many strive to remove God from our country as well as our world – but I have good news to share – He’s here to stay whether anyone wants to acknowledge Him or not. He’s the Eternal King of kings and the Lord of lords. He’s on the throne of the universe, and quite frankly, He’s there to stay. Whether you bend your knee to Him or yield your heart to Him is up to you.

When we started the north campus 4 months ago – some imagination, prayer, and dreaming had gone into it. What, Lord willing, is going to happen Sunday is something our elders, staff, and I believe our Lord imagined and intended. Last week, Kevin Shearon stepped forward during the last song to say, “Yes” to Jesus Christ. This Sunday, with the permission of Bass Pro, we’ll baptize Kevin in the lake there next to the Hilton at 11 to begin the morning of worship. If you attend north campus, park and just take cues from people near the lake and let’s celebrate this together.

Seeds of the gospel sown in faith yielding a harvest. Are you sowing? Are you imagining? Are you praying?

There’s a lot of exciting, Spirit-driven things going on all over the place within you as a church body. Let me encourage you to dial in to God and sow seeds of faith. I wish I had 5 or 6 pages to write of some of the great things God is doing in this church body.

This Sunday we continue in the “Real life…real people…real answers” series talking about God’s will within your life. I can’t wait.

Celebrate the 4th in fashion – pray for our troops – pray for our country and our elected leaders – then come and celebrate real freedom on Sunday. — Scott
