e-news for week of 11/29/09

I’m ever in bewildered awe and wonder when I contemplate the mystery of Christ. As we move into a season where we focus on the incarnation – God becoming flesh – let me encourage you to, as did Mary his mother, meditate on and treasure these things in your heart. The Mystery is huge. Michael Card wrote these lyrics that help to etch the depth of the Mystery onto my soul:

When the Father longed to show
A love He wanted us to know,
He sent His only Son and so
Become a holy embryo.

That is the Mystery!
More than you can see.
Give up on your pondering
And fall down on your knees.

No fiction as fantastic and wild
A mother made by her own child.
The helpless babe who cried
Was God incarnate and man deified.

That is the Mystery!
More than you can see.
Give up on your pondering
And fall down on your knees.

Because the fall did devastate
Creator must now re-create.
And so to take our sin
Was made like us so we could be like Him.

That is the Mystery!

As we continue on in “First Chair Faith” the goal for the next leg of this series is for you and your family to have a “First Chair Christmas.” For you to be able to celebrate the reality of Christ’s entry onto this planet in a personal way. This Sunday we’ll be in Luke 1 looking at the first and second chair experiences of the primary players in this event.

Couple of things – we want feedback on the family Sunday. I’ve received some but need more for a wider sampling. Simply email me at scott@forumchristian.org . Thanks.

Also, this Sunday night is the Pizza with the Pastors at 5 p.m.

Mark your calendars for Christmas at the Forum on Saturday, December 19 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 20 at 5 p.m. This program is for the entire family so come and enjoy the evening.

Also, the Christmas Eve service will occur at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Looking forward to all of us sitting in that first chair this Christmas. — Scott
