e-news for week of 12/27/09

Happy New Year! I’m hoping that 2010 will be a great year of breakthrough on a lot of levels. I’m pumped about the first sermon series that starts this weekend. It’s called, “Hello.” Yeah, yeah, I know….I know every person from every decade has a song or a quote. The whole series is going to focus us, as within our lives we intentionality strive to imitate Christ. We’ll be in the book of John looking at the way Jesus interacted with people. He was/is the best at interacting with people on all levels. We’re going to grow to become like him.

This Sunday is going to be “Name Tag Sunday.” “What does that mean?” you may ask. We’re all going to wear name tags this Sunday to help us as we meet and greet one another. You’ll see and experience the connection this weekend. We’ll also be giving out wristbands for everyone for this series. We’re going to grow together in purposeful interaction with people throughout this series. Again, you’ll see the connection this Sunday.

I want to thank Bradley Williams for preaching in first service and at north campus. Bradley is a student at Central and is an exceptional young man. Bradley will be interning with us this year as he prepares for his graduation. We’ve been very, very blessed with an excellent staff and while, on the whole, it is a younger staff than is the norm, this is a staff that loves Jesus, that loves to serve and that strives to uplift Jesus in all areas of their lives. I also want to thank specifically those who helped figure out how to make church happen on both campuses this past Sunday. It was a challenge – but in the end – God was honored.

Our family attended a wedding in Knoxville, TN and while there one of the newer couples to Forum came up to me and asked, “Aren’t you the pastor of Forum Christian Church?” Long story short, the wife and my niece had known one another in middle school. So we visited awhile about church and our interconnection, etc. Small world? Coincidence? Providence? All I know is this – it doesn’t matter where any one of us is, someone is watching and the Lord would encourage you to let your light shine for Him.

Can’t wait to talk about it with you this Sunday.

See you then — Scott
