To say that twentyten (I don’t know if I’m the first to type it that way, but I’m “calling it” and copyrighting it) has started off as a fun year amid challenge pretty much says it all. As a nation we are in the middle of a time of huge economic challenges. An earthquake crippled a country with countless lives lost and terrible devastation. Brice Wurdeman from our church and his family are serving in Haiti and are attempting to meet the needs of those they can. I could go on with the list of challenges. In all of these areas, Jesus is Lord. I say it again, “Jesus is Lord!” From the depths of our hearts we cry out, “Jesus is Lord!!!”
Let me encourage you to continue to have purposeful interaction with the people you are connected to. Be a blessing in their life today. Let them see the Lordship of Jesus in your life. Pick up their trash at the lunch table (or better yet, buy them lunch), open and hold the door for people all the while smiling, if you see a need – meet the need. “Hello” is more than a sermon series – it is a way of life. I’d once again encourage you to check out and submit “Hello” stories on the website at www.forumchristian.org.
Here are some upcoming events and information you need:
This Sunday night, January 31 will be the first night for the children’s mini-series, Transformed. This is for kids K – 5th grade and will be from 6-7:30. It will run through March 28 with one Sunday night off, February 7.
February 7 our worship times change to 8:30, 9:45, and 11 at the south campus. North campus service time remains 11.
HAITI — The mission team has decided to support the earthquake relief for Haiti by donating $2500 to the International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES) from the mission fund. This organization was selected because it is affiliated with the Christian Church/ Church of Christ and already has a presence in Haiti. They state that 100% of the donated funds will go to help the people of Haiti. IDES is in need of funds to help the Haitian Brethren to rebuild their homes, churches and schools. If you want to help financially beyond your normal tithes, you may do so direct online at www.ides.org or mail a check to IDES at P.O. Box 60, Kempton, IN 43043 and note Haiti Earthquake in the memo line.
I can’t wait to worship with you this weekend. If you want to study ahead – we’ll be in John 6. Have a blessed day. Scott
