We dove headfirst into 2010 (twenty ten) in a great way. Great to have Barbara Smith join Forum first service, great to have prayer with many of you, great to say “Hello” to a lot of new people, great day of worship on both campuses, great to see a lot of smiles on a sub-freezing day. Forum is really a great church. And we want to continue to let God lead, mold, and shape us.
In that we’ve just begun the “Hello” series, we’d love to hear how you have had purposeful interaction with people around you. We’ve set up a place to submit your storyline in an anonymous way on the website. Maybe your interaction could spur someone else on. Maybe someone will read it and grow in hope. Simply go to ForumChristian.org home page and submit your interaction. A woman between first and second service shared with me her purposeful interaction that ended up in the sermon 2nd and 3rd service sermons (south campus). I hope she writes her story. Someone Monday night was sharing with me an experience she had just had, I hope she puts it on the site.
Friends, as we continue to develop this series, on a personal level, I continue to get more and more revved up about it. I love God’s word. I love preaching God’s word. God’s word is transformational. This Sunday we’ll be in John 2 for any of you who would like to read ahead. In fact, during this month, just read the gospel of John as many times through as you can. That will enhance your growth and ability to understand.
Also, I’m excited that God has laid on Henry Newcomb’s heart the beginning of a “Celebrate Recovery” ministry at Forum that he’s going to help facilitate. In order to best organize this, we’ll need to start figuring out interest levels, so watch this publication for the details for this dynamic and life changing program.
You also should be receiving a newsletter this week in the physical mail. We’ll occasionally use paper for these when there are lots of ministry details the leadership is putting in front of the body. I’d encourage you to read it all the way through because it lays out some of the ministry details for 2010.
Most importantly, beginning the first Sunday in February we will change our service times to 8:30, 9:45, and 11 at south campus. We are making this change to better help the children’s and preschool areas. As a ministry, we have a high value for our children. One more time, first Sunday in February service time changes occur.
Looking forward to all of us worshiping together this Sunday. See you then — Scott
