There’s an old song that I hope you’ve heard whose lyrics go:
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
You can have all this world,
But give me Jesus
Each following verse says: When I’m alone… give me Jesus and When I come to die…give me Jesus.
This past Sunday, we had a lot of questions and dialogue connected to people who believe they may have grown up under some biblical distortions. As a church, we truly want to put Jesus Christ in front of you each week. Not the “Forum Jesus” or some “we’ve got the truth cornered Jesus” or a “we’re right and everybody else is whacked Jesus.” Read the New Testament and please see the love, the sacrifice, and the call of Christ over and over. We lift up Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We proclaim His love, His death, and His triumphant resurrection.
Christ invites you to have a relationship with Him. This relationship arises out of love. In forming this relationship He calls you to believe in Him and His word – the Bible would call that faith. Arising from faith, He calls you to repent and to be immersed. He calls you to live as His disciple. All of these elements are for your benefit. Disciple, now there’s a word that we don’t use a lot in day to day language. It means we walk in His steps – His attitude, His heart for the lost, His service, His holiness, His demeanor, His prayer life, etc. become the habits of our hearts. Nobody else I’d rather be like, how about you?
This Sunday we’ll be in John 14 as we are nearing the conclusion of “Hello.” If you’re one who studies ahead, I’d encourage you to read the end of chapter 13 to set up a wider picture.
Some events happening at South Campus:
Pizza with the Pastors is this Sunday night from 5 to 6:30. This event will happen in the Connecting Place right off of the auditorium. It’s designed to help those who are relatively new to Forum to get a picture as to what Forum is about.
Celebrate Recovery continues Sunday night from 6 to 7:30. This ministry helps people that have struggles with addictive patterns in their lives. Food, talk, porn, gambling, abusing alcohol, etc. are areas this ministry strives to help people overcome.
The K-5th Grade Transformed Mini-Series continues Sunday night at 6.
Looking forward to Sunday. - Scott
